It’s World Heart Day at South Steyne Medical Centre.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) kills 18.6 million people every year and kills more people than cancer, respiratory disease and HIV.

CVD is largely the result of lifestyle factors, which is good news, because these are things that can be controlled in our own lives.

Cardiovascular disease may seem like an insurmountable obstacle or maybe something that seems inevitable. However, by taking proactive measures in your health sooner you can greatly reduce your risk of CVD.

Have a chat to one of our doctors about CVD if you are concerned by clicking here.

If you would like to learn more about the initiative please click here.

R U OK? day at South Steyne Medical Centre.

You never know what someone is going through. Asking them how they are going may change their life.

R U OK? Day encourages all of us to check in with those around us, whether family, friends, or someone we pass on the street.

Suicide is sadly a large problem in Australia. 89% of Aussies report knowing someone who has attempted to commit suicide.

Let’s support one another by checking in. Asking somebody may seem small, but it may go a huge way in saving someone’s life.
